This weekend was rather eventful, my parents came up from the states to visit. They really liked my apartment, except my mother was afraid to go out on the balcony. We went out for dinner every night. The place they liked the most, Bo De Duyen, was the place I thought they might not like at all. It was great for me because I got to choose the restaurant every night, and I didn’t have to pay. It was the best at Benihannas, I got the Hibachi Ahi Tuna ($40CDN), and it was amazing! Since my mom is afraid of heights I thought it would be fun to go to the CN Tower and not mention the glass floor thing until we got up. Then my mother wanted to do the Canadian Walk of Fame, she really only cared about Shania Twain and William Shatner. So yea thats about it, they also brought up a bunch of stuff I was asking for, like my bike and ps2. Now I will stay in shape and out of trouble… right?

Today, Leeta and I went for a walk around Grenadier Pond so I could do a little fishing (I was having withdrawl). Leeta had a great time and jumped in the water a few times to spite me and scare away all the fish. I caught 3 small bass.

So this is an entry without pictures of fish, instead a picture of Leeta standing on the drinking fountain instead of just having her front two paws up.

My fishing equipment just went from a backpack full, to a trunk full!

Rods
5′ 6″ Shakespeare Ugly Stick
7′ Shakespeare Ugly Stick (2)
8′ Daiwa (Big Water)

Reels
Abu Garcia Cardinal 102R
Shimano Spirex 4000
Rainbow GP 2000

And a huge Plano Phantom full of lures and plastic baits.

My name is Jonathon and I have a fishing problem.

Science would dictate

Friday, we went fishing of course. Rhiannon and Cate did a little filming for us but the afternoon was not very eventful. Clive caught 2 Pike, and a bass I think, and I lost a bass right on shore. So there is still no footage of my monster hooksets. Around 11 we decided to head up to Tweed and get the canoe.

Saturday morning we tried fishing the Bay of Quinte but it was way too windy and choppy. So we headed back to Belleville to have dinner with Rob and try fishing Moira River. The water level was raised at least 3-4 feet since the last time we were there. Never even saw a fish.

Sunday, still hoping for some big pike we took our canoe out on Moira Lake in Tweed. We saw some large pike swimming the tops of weed beds in the shallows, but were unable to find a color combination to draw them out. It wasn’t until almost 7pm that we caught our first fish, and it was quite possibly the smallest pike I’ve ever seen. Clive caught a nice size small mouth about 20 minutes later. We even tried trolling around the lake but our motor just didn’t have enough gas.

Oh, and I forgot to mention one thing.. SUNBURN!

Feel the fury!

Today marks the greatest fishing day of my life thus far, I think. I caught 6 pike in a matter of 2 hours. The biggest, picture #5, was over 10 pounds and 36 inches in length!

This summer is shaping up to be the greatest ever, and the show hasn’t even started.

**Update**
I just found out that my Pike would have been a solid second place for the 2003 Canadian Sportfishing Championship. I wish I had know that when I caught it. Now I have a pile of entry forms and a full listing of the rules, all fish caught from now on will be entered.

Re: Monday Movie Screenings

I agree, however this movie was much more light-hearted and had a good mix of humor. I don't think there was room for humor in War Dance.

My favourite was WarDance. I couldn't agree more with you-- movies that have to be paid for aren't typically very good.
