Taken about 30 seconds before it thrashed towards me and shredded my left thumb. Im holding the fish under the gill plate, so my thumb is literally inches from his mouth while my fingers are inside his mouth griping the jaw.
Its a standard grip, for those with courage and Fury

Another furious weekend of fishing has come to an end.
After lunch we set out to fish the dead heads (sunken trees and stumps). Before reaching the spot Clive could “smell a muskie” in the area and on his first cast he had one, but it spat the hook at the side of the boat. So, I make my cast in the other direction. BAM! Its the same muskie!! Hes back, and apparently for blood. I quickly lift him in the boat and say a few words for the camera. As soon as I get the hooks out of his mouth and turn to set my pliers down he thrashes towards me and manages to find my thumb in his mouth. I immediately drop him to my feet and look at my thumb. Theres lots of blood and the skin looks pretty shredded, I open up the wound to get a better look and see either more shredded skin or some fat globs. Pull out my knife, cut a piece of my shirt off and wrapped it tightly.
I decided that since Clive didn’t have any sutures I didnt need any. Hopefully there is no muscle damage, I’ll have to keep my thumb straight for a while though. The funny part about all this is that it never really hurt, but it did prohibit me from fishing. In total we landed 5 muskie.
It was much worse when it happened, looks like I’m a quick healer. These pictures were taken 24 hours after it happened when I got home.
